History in Teaching
I have been working in Education since I was a sophomore in High School. I worked for the Children's Museum of Santa Fe, NM as an intern during the summer of 2008. In the internship I planned and instructed activities with kids ages 18-14. The activities taught valuable lessons while engaging the kids in a very fun and interesting manner. My junior and senior year of high school I helped tutor high school students in Math and Science. My senior year I also worked for Kumon Learning Center and tutored children in math from grades 4-11. At the center I taught a wide variety of lessons such as algebra, geometry, calculus, and elementary math.
Currently I am working for CISER, The Center for the Integration of STEM Education and Research, at Texas Tech University. CISER has traveling labs and curriculum available online for teacher use. As a science education scholar I help with outreach programs aiding students and teachers. Some examples include organizing science camps, judging science fairs, attending or presenting teacher workshops, assisting teachers in the community, and many other important tasks. CISER helps to provide tools, equipment, and instruction that is not available to many students and teachers.
At this moment I am engaging in a personal research project through the Texas Tech University Department of Biological Sciences as an undergraduate research scholar with CISER. I hope to use this research to create advanced lesson plans involving plant water relations and plant ecophysiology.
